The significance of this home lies beyond its being the dwelling of the humble and faithful Whitney family. Upon first arriving in Kirtland in February 1831, the Prophet Joseph Smith and his wife, Emma, lived with “the family of Brother Whitney for several weeks, and received every kindness and attention which could be expected, especially from Sister Whitney.
